Yachting is part of Ballarat's history and the city is steeped in history.

The Ballarat Yacht Club reached its centenary in 1977. 100 years since the foundation of our club was an occasion to celebrate.

Many people may be surprised at the popularity of yachting in Ballarat 100 years ago. Newspaper reports of the day report 10,000 people attending regattas in the 1870's and 1880's.

In 1977, 100 years later, there is no better sight than Lake Wendouree with yachts carrying full sail.

Throughout the 100 years of the club many people have contributed to its continuance. Present interest in the club shows that the second 100 years is off to a magnificent start.

It is a credit that the Albert Park Yacht Club will be participating in our Centenary Regatta, sailing 'Acrospire'
